Even a decade later, youth promotion is still a considerable part of Nia’s life.
Nia has accomplished much in her life and understands the value of a support system. She recognizes that giving young people the resources they need to thrive and achieve their dreams is crucial. By employing sports as a means of capturing the interest of the next generation of adolescents, Nia gains insight into their thoughts and reactions. Her mission is to assist youth organizations with fundraising opportunities and trainers during practice and at games. She states the importance of on-site trainers as a physical and mental health necessity. Some support services trainers provide are hydration, preventive care, eyes on players that coaches might miss because they are focused on coaching, and an ear for players when they don't feel comfortable talking to the coaches.
Nia recently received her degree from Texas Tech University. She majored in Kinesiology and minored in Sports Medicine. Her next step in life is pursuing her master’s in athletic training. Her athletic training journey began after sustaining a severe concussion and never being able to return to sports the same; throughout her entire recovery and transition process, her athletic trainer played a significant role. Since then, Nia has worked with Texas Tech football, track and field, volleyball, and many high schools that have held events at Texas Tech’s facilities.
